Jerry Remy to Release CD Singing Favorite Baseball Songs

Testing the theory that he can sell
anything that bears the name RemDawg,
Jerry Remy is planning to release a CD,
Singing Baseball, featuring the
famed television analyst singing his
favorite baseball songs. “I think I’ve
proven that I can sell anything,” said a
boastful RemDawg.
“For years I’ve enjoyed singing these baseball songs on the way to the park. So when someone suggested I record them and sell them I said, Why not?”
“I’ll tell you why not,” said
envious broadcaster partner Don Orsillo.
“He is the single most horrific singer
I’ve heard in my life. He gave me a
copy of the CD, and I’m like, ‘You’re
actually going to let the public hear
this?’ He sounds like some animal being
choked to death. Take Me Out to the
Ballgame is totally unrecognizable;
Centerfield sounds like the
mating call of the bullfrog. Off-key
doesn’t even begin to describe it. And
the amazing thing is that instead of
being embarrassed, the guy’s all proud
of it! He’s actually bragging about it.
Unbelievable!” Others in the clubhouse
confirm Orsillo’s view. “I use the CD
to scare the coyotes out of my yard,”
says Curt Schilling. “But for
entertainment? Please. It might be
something you could use on terrorism
suspects or something. It’d break me in
about 30 seconds.” Orsillo thinks
that when the public hears the CD it
might just be the break he’s been
looking for. “When people listen to
that crap, I think it’s going to turn
the public off, and finally, I’ll be New
England’s favorite broadcaster. Then, we
get rid of Jerry, and bring in someone
like Oil Can Boyd, to make me look
really good. I’m telling you, this CD
might be the best thing that ever
happened to me!”
