Goodbye WaterWorks, hello Marina Bay Beach Club
By Jennifer Mann
QUINCY - The Marina Bay nightspot favored by bronzed bodies and known for its
“Buckwild Saturdays” and lingerie shows is bidding to refine its image.
WaterWorks will cease to be May 29, when it will reopen and be recast as the
Marina Bay Beach Club.
While the mechanical bull might not entirely be a thing of the past, expect to
see some changes. “It’s going to be more of a boating, yacht club,
Nantucket-y feel,” spokeswoman Jennifer Harvey said.
Harvey said brothers Ed and Joe Kane, who head up the club, are looking to cater
more to young professionals. With that, they hope to attract more corporate
parties.
WaterWorks has been subject to frequent criticism from neighbors fed up with
late-night noise. A series of interior renovations – fireplaces, water
view seating and a new entryway – is expected to make the club more than just an
outdoor venue. The 21/2-acre lot is known for its palm tree grove and beach
volleyball court.
“Now we have the ability to section off for private parties and make it more
VIP,” Harvey said. The renovations are expected to be complete by early
May.
Also new will be a big Fourth of July party and more headlining acts, Harvey
said.
Ed Kane also owns The Estate in Boston, as well as Hingham restaurants Tosca,
Cafe Tosca and Stars.
